In my quest for recognizing the most fabulous thermal baths in Italy, I couldn’t help but be pleased that in my recent trip, I had the chance to encounter the Abano Grand Hotel.
Another jewel in the nostalgic township of Abano Terme, the oldest spa destination in Europe, this luxurious spa resort is known in the area to be the only five-star deluxe hotel in Padua.

The flagship hotel under the GB Thermae Hotels started by the Borile Group in the 1970’s; Abano Grand Hotel is a forerunner in Thermal Therapy Spa techniques. I was pleasantly occupied to discover that the place spotlights the anti-aging movement and features an in-house, medically sanctioned mud spa farm. Additionally it has three thermal pools with natural water from underground springs that flows through the Dolomite Mountains.
I know this is all too exciting to take in! Even though my husband and I have traveled quite a bit in major spa destinations in Europe, being at the Abano Grand Hotel gives me delight. I truly appreciate those who give prominence to aging gracefully by means of having a healthy diet, serene sensibility, placid mindset and a pleasantly active lifestyle. Therefore, spas are naturally a place my husband and I frequent. Often whenever we travel, there’s nothing like allowing our skins to breathe and to be brought back to life through the use of Turkish baths that are quite common in proper hotels around Europe. Physical and mental health is certainly being prioritized by people of all ages and the Abano Grand Hotel is the perfect place to vigorously let our fascination to wellness radiate. They are, after all, innovators in this field!
Nestled at the foot of the Euganean Hills amongst flawlessly manicured lawns and encompassed by a garden of olive trees, palms, and various tropical plants, the Abano Grand Hotel is splendor personified. Containing masterpieces and antiquities from the eighteenth century from the private collection of the Borile Group, this classic European spa hotel also feature a rare and stylish “James Bond” bar. Truly, it is the most superb spot to order a Bellini from Italy. The Abano Grand Hotel illustrates class from its dashing gourmet restaurant called Pietro d’ Abano, which features a combined buffet-style fine dining with tailored menus for those who are in specific wellness programs. In the evening, our suite sparkled with captivating chandeliers, which features a display of classy Louis XV-style of furnishings that’s truly fit for royalty.
Visiting the hotel’s Venezia Spa was certainly quite the experience. Paying homage to the Veneto region, the spa opened just two years ago as part of Abano Grand Hotel‘s 2-million enhancements. Imagine yourself luxuriating amongst dramatic pillars done in stone elements in deep red and gold hues. True to its theme of emitting healing energies all throughout their space through the thermal vapors, they also make use of quartzite floors to further allow guests to immerge in invigoration in an amiable and fashionable way.
My trip here wouldn’t be thorough if I didn’t get to experience one of the acclaimed GB Thermae Hotels Signature Rituals of course. Earlier on our trip, my husband and I encountered for the very first time the 5 Senses Ritual from their sister hotel, the Grand Hotel Trieste & Victoria, which you can read here. This time around, I’ll be partaking in the Bacchus Face and Body Ritual, an extraordinary anti-oxidizing and multisensory ritual that takes place in one of the 95 treatment rooms in their 26,000 square feet anti-aging thermal spa. The Abano Grand Hotel certainly feels like the haven for spa treatments, doesn’t it? Stay tuned this week for more!
