The Abano Grand Hotel feels like a haven for spa treatments.
I introduced this 5-star deluxe hotel this week as a true jewel in Padua, Italy. Today’s post is about the Bacchus Face and Body Ritual that I had the opportunity to experience as a guest in the hotel!
As I entered one of their cozy treatment rooms to prepare for the Bacchus Face and Body Ritual, I couldn’t help but truly enjoy the feeling of simmering down and taking a breather. I know I’m in Italy for a holiday but truthfully, holidays nowadays can get quite exhausting with a long list of many things to see, cuisines to try, and monuments to be amazed at. There is an emergence of wellness and renewal trends that has been powerfully dominating in the travel scene lately and, truthfully, the Abano Grand Hotel is most certainly at the center of it all, being one of the oldest spa resorts in Europe. The spa experience that you could acquaint yourselves with is very sophisticated and mature. The hotel even has their own Medical Director & Doctors that oversee its health and wellness programs.
The Bacchus Face and Body Ritual started off with a kind of cleansing and exfoliation of my face and body through the use of the mask of red grape gel, thus the name “Bacchus.” After the red grape gel, a coat of Abano Mature Thermal Mud was laid and was applied on my skin. Their bio thermal mud-fango clay unique to Euganean Hills joined with mineral-rich thermal water develops an active ingredient called micro alga ETS05 that allows for anti-oxidation to happen. Moreover, a blanket of a special gel mask made of red grape with a high concentration of polyphenols is applied on the face.
I noticed that the treatment room was quite chic in details. Marble elements were found all throughout the shower where I bathed and removed the mud-fango clay from my body. The therapist attentively balanced out the water temperature for me as well as made sure I had the proper robes and slippers needed to go about the room. From the application to the peeling of the clay, the entire experience was soothing and calming. It was quite thrilling knowing that this rare mud form the nearby hills are slowly but surely rejuvenating me.
Subsequently after showering, a Bacchus bath scented with fruity red wine combined with the mineral-rich and healing waters of the thermal spa continued to refresh and restore my body. Surely, I truly felt enlivened and energized. The soothing blue lights inside the room made the environment so serene. The hotel’s therapist, in every aspect, completely made me feel snugged and satisfied, instructing me ever so softly what the next part of the process was.
This magical Ritual concluded with a calming massage to further allow the feeling of ease and to collect myself. Altogether, the Bacchus Face and Body Ritual took a total of 110 minutes. I chose to have my appointment right after breakfast and before lunch so I can start the day stimulated by the mud-fango clay and inspirited by the red grape gel.
The Bacchus Face and Body Ritual was certainly one of the most unique spa treatments I’ve experienced. First of all, Italy being known for good wine, I thought that it was only natural for them to use their grapes in some other means too. This ritual felt so original to the GB Thermae Hotels due to the ingredients made and their exclusive blend of mud-fango clay complementing it to the red grape gel. Of course, the mineral-rich thermal waters from the oldest European spa town dating back to Roman antiquity was an essential detail that made it all seem so bona fide to the region.
Comparing it to the 5 Senses Ritual that I encountered at their sister hotel, the Grand Hotel Trieste & Victoria, was also soothing and calming but the use of the fango was in a more preparatory way. The Bacchus Face and Body Ritual was a grade deeper in terms of my encounter with their fango-mud clay. I can see myself being quite a devoted clientele truthfully if I lived near Abano Terme. The reason is because I’ve seen first-hand the bevy of options that I can choose from. In terms of a perfect fusion of fitness, relaxation and spa treatments ranging from anti-aging at the Abano Grand Hotel or revitalization at the Grand Hotel Trieste & Victoria, I can see scheduling spa vacations regularly and most especially right here at the largest thermal destination in Europe.
After my treatment, I was delighted to discover a platter of Italian sweets and pastries, as well as a tall glass of grape juice waiting for me in the lounge area of the spa, just right outside my treatment room. I love the lounge that featured glass floors in some parts that overlooked the indoor thermal pool below. It was such a particular way to integrate the indoor and outdoor flow of the hotel. As a guest, there was never a time that I forgot that the focal point of this entire experience would be the thermal waters that were so gracefully enhanced by how beautifully the Abano Grand Hotel seems to have spruced up the ambiance for guests like me. Stay tuned this week for more!
