Château de Versailles is truly a visual feast that one simply cannot forget easily.
If you haven’t done so, make sure to add visiting Versailles to your bucket list. Located in a suburb outside of Paris, a trip to France would not be complete without a grand tour of this immense historical property.

Here are some quick tips I have learned during my stop that I would like to share with all of you:
- Staying near the Eiffel Tower, it took us about 40 minutes to get to Versailles by train.
- Go early. Château de Versailles attracts a lot of tourists all day, every day, no matter the season! The earlier you go, the less likely you will need to wait in line to enter the property. Otherwise, prepare for long lines. Pre-booking is a great idea.
- There is only one restroom (co-ed) in the main palace and the lines can get quite long. If you can, do your business before you enter the main gate.
- The Hall of Mirrors is not to be missed. Take lots of pictures!
- Angelina is the only restaurant inside the premiere hall. It has a sit-down area as well as a cafeteria type space and both can get crowded during lunchtime.
- The fountain shows only happen at a certain hour and time of the day. Make sure to get a copy of the schedule when you enter the property in order for you not to miss it! Plan around the fountain show schedule!
- The gardens are vast. I expected it to be really big and it certainly exceeded my expectations! Make certain to use your time wisely and enjoy both the interior and exterior of Versailles. The extensive gardens with secret spaces are not to be missed. I would strongly consider taking the golf cart garden tour if you intend to actually see the entire garden.
- Get ready to visit Versailles like any other tourist attraction — it will be crowded and you will be doing lots of walking.
- The staff here is not that friendly. Do ample research before going!
- If you’re into history and art (and maybe even some royal bling!), this is the place for you.
- To truly enjoy it, you need an entire day.
Château de Versailles is a wonderful sight in France. Although there is an impression that it is unsatisfactorily managed, it is grand and magnificent to see. King Louis XVI’s overwhelming desire for wealth and his eagerness to push the boundaries with his grand design is apparent throughout the Château. The website provided information about the history of the Château and the life of Louis XIV. The Château is filled with amazing rooms that were built centuries ago. Be prepared and plan ahead. This way, you will be able to experience all the grandeur there is to take in.
