Sitting atop one of the highest peaks of Mykonos Greece, is an alluring restaurant with the most stunning views of the Mediterranean.
Truly, this is Mykonos’ best kept secret! When I first learned that the delightful restaurant offers a picturesque ambiance, I didn’t realize the views were certainly sublime. My gastronomy tour around the island was surely supreme and it only continued to get better with our next stop: Karavaki Restaurant.
We were seated a wonderful spot with a glorious view of the sunset. Nido, the waitress, assisted us in making sure the combination of our orders would be synergistically flavorful. She served us some house wine and bread while we waited for our courses to arrive.

As appetizer, we had the prosciutto with parmesan cheese and bread sticks. The prosciutto is not as salty as the mass-produced American replica and is definitely much more flavorful and savory.
Another appetizer we enjoyed was the restaurant’s signature Karavaki salad. As soon as it arrived, I quickly exclaimed, “This is a salad!?” The salad arrived covered in seafood. There were large portions of many types of seafood. The large crab arm was conveniently pre-cracked and it contained a generous amount of meat inside. There was also a very large clean shrimp and many beautifully cooked clams. What an amazing salad! It is clearly one of my favorites!
Our third appetizer was the dry sausage with spices served with a side of spicy cheese dip. The sausage was evenly spiced though the sausage was not at all oily and fatty. The flavor of the sausage dipped in the cheese sauce made a savory and delicious culinary experience. There were also some grilled tomatoes which had traces of the natural BBQ taste and texture. It was heated perfectly as to not lose its natural flavors and textures.
Now for the main courses! The first one was the grouper fish. It was a very soft oily white fish, reminiscent of my favorite seafood in Los Angeles — the Chilean Sea Bass. It certainly had the soft oily clean feel to it. The rice on the side of the dish made a wonderful compliment to the fish as it does not distract from its flavor.
The second main course was the rack of lamb. It arrived in a fun and overwhelming presentation. The food portions from this restaurant were extremely generous! People say meal portions in Europe were smaller… this place certainly breaks that opinion! The lamb had a very distinct flavor yet not too strong and definitely gratifying. The dish was served with breaded French fries which reminded me of a Japanese tempura. The lamb also came with a mushroom and cream sauce which made the lamb taste even much more scrumptious!
Finally, it is time for dessert. We enjoyed the chocolate pie with vanilla cream and strawberries. The inside of the pie was sweet and moist, a good balance between dark and milk chocolate. It was specifically made for our table by the chef for the evening as the dessert options change everyday.
Up on the fabulous Vencia Hotel in Mykonos, our moment in Karavaki provided us truly marvelous 360-degree gorgeous visuals of this quaint European island. The Mediterranean Sea being illuminated by the most enchanting sunset was so photographic. The scene here is so genuinely rewarding. Without fail, a sunset experience at Karavaki is an unquestionably breathtaking experience. It is almost difficult to believe a place as glorious as this exists but it does, right here, in Mykonos.
