Warsaw, Poland is a wonderful destination with diverse architecture and a vibrant food scene.
Walking in Warsaw’s restored historic old town and market square is like stepping back in time. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful Poland has restored its old town even though it was heavily damaged during WWII.
Centrally located in Warsaw’s dazzling old town is La Brasserie Moderne, located at the superb Sofitel Warsaw Victoria Hotel.
The Sofitel has quite the magnificent view from the outside given the marvelous manicured roundabout facing its large revolving doors. The handsome lobby led us to the stunning interior of La Brasserie Moderne.
I immediately noticed the handsome designer interior of the restaurant. La Brasserie Moderne was quite the dazzling place despite the restaurant being full of guests. The decor was glamorous and resplendent highlighting a charming modernity that was both warm and inviting.
La Brasserie Moderne draws in an open kitchen which is always something I enjoy. There’s something about watching the chef and cooks working on their art.
The “Delight Business Lunch” in the brasserie was given prominence in their menu. Given I had tours set later in the day but still wanted to enjoy a delicious, gourmet fare, I opted for it without hesitation.
The appetizer served was an icon of the Sofitel, an S-shaped cheese panna cotta that was distinctive to the hotel brand. It was enjoyable and pleasant with a hint of mature sweetness. The S-shape was a clever interjection of their brand into the food. Truly, an enticing and memorable treat!
The main course was served which consisted of an exquisite sea bass risotto with whole grilled carrots. The scrumptious sea bass was quite delectable and featured a divine dash of pepper. The gratifying risotto was creamy, which complemented the sea bass’ physical and flavorful features. It’s always pleasurable when the sides emphasize the main dish without a flaw.
For dessert, we had the dainty cheesecake with orange cream topped with vanilla swirl paired with mellow herbs sorbet and piquant honeycomb. The honeycomb was a luscious surprise because it gave a sudden burst of candy-coated crunch. It went perfectly with cappuccino, a splendid ending to our lunch.
La Brasserie Moderne is a delicious and elegant choice for a sumptuous lunch fare in old town Warsaw. I would recommend this fashionable meal for the stylish traveler visiting Poland.
