Luscious Le Sud in Luxembourg

9

Luxembourg is a lovely destination with a gorgeous picturesque little old town featuring captivating destination restaurants.

We spent a delightful morning walk and were completely enchanted with the bewitching allure of this city! Luxembourg’s old town is stunning in every angle, and the architecture surrounding it is completely pleasing to the eye.

I recommend stopping by one of the city’s most exquisite restaurants called Le Sud – a gastronomic experience that will leave you feeling pretty captivated by its scrumptious, gratifying menu.

We arrived at Le Sud’s elegant lobby and were conveyed up its significant castle-like building via a glass elevator featuring floor-to-ceiling views of a notable part of Luxembourg’s historic old town.

Upon entering Le Sud’s extraordinary fourth floor dining room, we were further transported in time. Le Sud features a handsome and luxuriously restored historic architecture embellished with an outstanding high ceiling with large windows and remarkable crystal chandeliers.

Le Sud’s grand kitchen is visible from the tables perched atop a platform complete with deep scarlet theatre curtains as if to set the stage properly for its much-celebrated menu. The kitchen was elevated and takes the limelight at center stage. The staff would even open and close the curtains at the beginning and end of its seating. How marvelous!

Our server, Florian, arrived with amuse boucheron, veloute de carothers au miele, emulsion de coriander et mouillette au comte. This was lovely and creamy with a slight carrot taste. The bread, of course, had a nice interesting crunch. This marks such a delicious beginning that was also pleasant through and through.

Our entrée was composed of pates fregola sarda, calamari poles, petits poised, chorizo beluga, emulsion comba. This dish is so incredibly smooth and pleasant featuring cooked squid and foam in exotic lemon.

The soft squid blends quite wonderfully well with the rest of the ingredients. I really like the congenial chorizo taste as it introduces a slight variant in flavor. They were very tasty and hearty overall – a comforting and pleasurable flavor during a cold day.

For our principal mains, we had the fillet mignon of veal with artichoke (Mignon de veallarded, pure d artichauts Breton, jus de roti, tuile au comte). The fillet mignon of veal was satisfyingly soft… truly wonderful!

The surrounding creams amiably complimented the steak. The steak was so soft and convivially cooked to perfection. The veal was delectably flavorful without being rich. It was even mildly wrapped in bacon. The cordial sauce was likable in its mushroom garlic cream.

The luscious dessert highlights a sweet and decadent Rocher au praline poire chocolat or chocolate served with praline mousse. This is a classic confection with Rocher chocolat and its treasured shell, gloriously topped with a generous, cherished cream and a delicious, gentle biscuit. The little flower on its peak is a winning touch. The yellow cream underneath was nice and complimentary, introducing a pleasant saucy feel to the dessert.

Then came a dazzling trolley of cheese, with illustrious selections that feature goat cheese with shallots, a variety of camembert cheese, red cheese from the north of France, the list goes on.

We finished it off with Café gourmand – a cappuccino and a selection of cute little mignardises. Among the cute little treats, the raspberry was my favorite – so sweet and fresh. Yum!
