A symbol of humans, animals and nature coexisting with one another, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud was that sort of mystical place that you only dream or read about as a kid.
Legend has it that the monkeys believe that the forest is blessed and serves as their divine protector for many decades.

I was ferociously nervous when I first arrived and thoughts of wildly being chased by monkeys slowly and stupidly entered my mind. I decided to create the list below to help others who experience anxiety around monkeys and inspire them to conquer our shared fears.
5 Essential Tips to Know When Traveling to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Bali:
1. First of all, don’t temp them. It’s a monkey. What do you think they’re going to do?
2. Also, it’s good to step back and keep shiny jewelry and other accessories such as glasses inside your purse. Keep your personal items hidden and with you at all times!
3. Whatever you do, do not bring outside food or drink. Monkeys that are accustomed to visiting humans know what they are and can sneak up behind you and steal them. I’ve witnessed that before. It was actually quite funny but it wouldn’t be so funny when you’re the victim.
4. Whatever happens, and most especially when you’re under attack, stay calm. If anything, get into a defensive position and wait for professional assistance, which transitions to the next tip…
5. Always keep in the vicinity of the sanctuary staff. They are the experts after all.
With these pointers, you’re ready to conquer the monkeys and have an iconic Bali experience of a lifetime!
