Having spent a few days in Positano, I’d say the charm really comes out in the evening as the city lights illuminate the coastal towns.
I have realized that my appreciation for the beautiful Positano have absolutely no limits. As I reminisce my Italian days and revel in watching movies set in the Amalfi, I’ve decided to share with you all my recommended 3-day itinerary for a trip Positano.

The thing I absolutely love the most about this town is the fact that unlike Rome, where you have to tick off certain historical sites and advance like a tourist, the Amalfi region is one big box to tick off by itself. Once you arrive, you’re done being a tourist.
The Amalfi is really here for the people that just want to chill, relax, and sincerely enjoy the environment.
I would most certainly recommend travelers of visiting the ancient ruins of Pompeii before or after luxuriating in Positano. You don’t want to spend time in transit going back and forth between Positano and Pompeii where the time should be spent either enjoying a view atop the many balconies spread out in this stunning cliff town while enjoying a refreshing drink, or on a lounge chair at the beach with your toes dug into the sand.
Here’s a relaxing 3-day itinerary I’ve prepared for those of you who are dreaming of Positano:
Day 1:
2:00 P.M. – Hotel check-in.
3:00 P.M. – Lay by the beach at Spiaggia Grande.
Not to miss: Church of Santa Maria Assunta perched by the beach.
5:00 P.M. – Sunset stroll back to the hotel
8:00 P.M. – Evening Dinner
Not to miss: Elisir di Positano serves the freshest lemon juice and the best homemade Delizie al Limone.
A note for day-trippers: Elisir di Positano is nearby the commonly used drop-off area for private tours and taxis in Positano. You can enjoy this homegrown restaurant upon arrival and prior to your departure. Its location is perfect for either situation. Elisir di Positano restaurant review may be viewed here.

Styleat30 Tip:
Don’t engage Positano like a tourist. Put away your checklists, pick up a lemon granita, converse with the locals, and enjoy life!
