Located in Budapest’s city park near Heroes Square and next to a small quaint lake is the fanciful Robinsons Timeless Kitchen.
Above it is a steakhouse called The Butcher and both restaurants are owned by the Restauranteur Laszlo Arpad. The restaurant has an amazing and unique location as it sits inside a park on its own island. The view from the outside terrace was quite poetic, enjoyable and peaceful.

I must say it was nice to enjoy a meal while watching ducks and geese swim around the lake. The interior of the restaurant was wonderfully decorated. Apparently, the owner is also an interior designer which explains the theme as everything seems to go so well together.
The menu changes depending on the season and is best to check their website to see what they have planned. I found it a lovely and nice touch that they would leave blankets on the chairs outside as it when it got breezy that day I cozily wrapped one around me.
The servers at the Robinson’s Timeless Kitchen were very welcoming and communicated to their guests excellently. We were given the menu of which we found to be quite a large selection. The menu items were presented and explained in two languages as well as two currencies. I really like how accommodating they are. I had mango lemonade as a starter drink which gave me time to think about what we were going to enjoy at their restaurant. To think, this restaurant has an entire section just for lemonades! The mango lemonade was nostalgically refreshing.
For our appetizers, my husband and I started with a soup with rich beef broth and semolina dumplings. It was a very delicious beef broth soup which was perfect for a cold day out. It reminded me of a traditional Filipino dish called bulalo, rich and truly exotic. The other starter plate we devoured was the baby calamari with chili garlic and olive ragout. The dish had a wonderful smell and it looked very appetizing! The calamari was so incredibly soft and tender. I’m normally not a fan of tomatoes but, for this dish, I cherished the texture that the fresh baby tomato brings to the calamari.
The last appetizer we had was our local favorite, grilled duck liver served with a homemade ginger scone and pear compote. It was so amazingly rich that I had to eat it slowly while enjoying the other appetizers. If you have a craving for such dishes, you will definitely be satisfied here. The ginger scone is used as a luscious bed for the duck liver in which the ginger further accents the flavor.
The first main that was served was the rose duck breast served with baby spinach quinoa and pomegranate beet root. This dish was also very well presented. Given that we were seated outside, the sumptuous smell was clearly noticeable. It was a sweet and healthy dish. I enjoyed the pomegranate sauce on the side. There was a generous amount of spinach mixed into the quinoa. The combination of a semi-dry duck breast and quinoa was wonderful as the light oil mixed well with the pomegranate sauce on the side.
Our second main was the salmon curry with baby vegetables and golden raisin jasmine rice. The curry smells quite wonderfully aromatic and the salmon looks well cooked. Even the skin looks very appetizing. The overall dish was beautifully presented. The salmon was truly soft, and when paired with the crispy skin, its salmon heaven. It is not fishy at all and the curry has such wonderful flavor.
This is definitely a restaurant perfect to sit down and enjoy the panoramic views it gives alongside some delectable dessert! We decided upon a dish that we have not had yet during our Budapest adventures. We decided on having some local Hungarian cottage cheese dumplings with sour cream. Yes it does sound quite simple but it was definitely satisfying flavorful. One of the cottage cheese dumplings was breaded while the other was not and with the sour cream, was certainly luxurious. This was a good dessert as it is not sweet yet it wonderfully cleared our palette from the delightful flavors of the previous dishes. What a unique plate!
It was a marvelous ending when enjoying the peaceful exterior of the Robinsons Timeless Kitchen.
