Iconic. It sounds like such a paradigmatic and emblematical statement, doesn’t it? In fashion, when someone says your style is iconic, it absolutely and unambiguously puts one in a meritorious mood. Such word is how I believe I can describe the most historic and interesting neighborhoods in beautiful Paris. This one in particular deserves the honor and popularity its garnered throughout the years. Montmartre, that famous hill upholding a basilica that took over 40 years to build a decade ago, deserves to be called as such. The Sacred Heart Basilica of Montmartre, or the Sacré-Coeur for Parisians, is definitely that iconic monument. Perfect, faultless and absolutely irreproachable. This lovely and hilly district struck gold as Sacré-Coeur is a holy place and a vibrant destination of devotion to the faithful. A sanctuary for eucharistic adoration and the divine mercy for Catholics, the basilica is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and serves as a “national vow” to make virtuous amends against the obscene aggression committed in Rome contrary to the rights of the Church. Simply put, this beautiful white shrine with its peaceful and graceful glow serves as a promise of harmony not just for Paris, but for all. Such is an exemplary ideal of what I feel embodies a kind of thing that is iconic. Being an icon, one must have a purpose. And that purpose must be unceasing. With its ever-changing facets, being iconic in fashion can be an arduous feat. However, contrary to fashion, one’s style absolutely speaks of one’s spirit. And certainly, there must be more to one’s elegance and flair than meets the eye. Like the Sacré-Coeur, with its refined poise and composure, our conduct must exude discernment and we must wear our morals with finesse. With this kind of stylish aptitude and vivacity, our presence will surely be a gift. Iconic style is what we must unceasingly aim for, one that is recognizable and representative of our zest for life!
