One of my most memorable moments this past summer is most certainly my time at the fanciful little town of Abano Terme located in the Veneto Region of Italy.
Sitting at the foot of the Euganean Hills, this lush spa town gets its name from remains of an ancient Roman bath that have been discovered in the area.

Close to Padua, a city in Italy famous for the phenomenal frescoes of Giotto in the Scrovegni Chapel and the site of the marvelous and far-reaching 13th century basilica commemorating Saint Anthony, Abano Terme certainly exudes a charm of its own.
My husband and I arrived on a lovely evening at the historic Grand Hotel Trieste & Victoria situated at the very center of town. Gleaming wondrously in its Belle Époque façade against the gleaming sunset, the hotel is a stunning token of the town’s glorious past filled with famous celebrities and personalities that have made Grand Hotel Trieste & Victoria notable for over a hundred years. General Diaz stayed here in Suite 1010 when he signed the victory of Italy at the conclusion of World War I. I’ve even been told that a Pope has been here and have dipped in the hotel’s mineral rich waters, surely a much deserved wellness break!
With this new milestone, they’ve recently updated their Vital Thermal Spa amenities and I cannot wait to savor it firsthand. As an American living in Europe, the notions of ancient thermal spas are quite new to me. But since the first time I was introduced to it, I’d have to say that I’ve grown quite infatuated with thermal spas and would recommend quaint Abano Terme to anyone traveling to Venice or any nearby region. Stay tuned this week for more on our enchanting stay at the exquisite Grand Hotel Trieste & Victoria!
