The World Famous Spot, as they call it, is steps away from this beautiful shoreline! The Spot is Los Angeles’ original Vegan Restaurant, serving the area for over 30 years!

The ambiance inside was pretty quaint. It had a homey atmosphere… almost like I’m at my grandmother’s house. We decided to sit outside on their patio. Of course, they have indoor seating as well. Notice their white board sign announcing their special Zucchini Loaf, Split Pea Soup, Apple Cobbler and Organic Beer & Wine!
The service was superb! We went for brunch and tried their iced herb tea which is a blend of chamomile, lemon zinger, and cinnamon apple. What a wonderfully unique taste! I’m a tea lover and I always opt for brewed tea over soda. I love that their house special tea was something I’ve never tried before. They are also known for their homemade bread and cornbread which they sweeten with raw agave. Always natural! How cool is that?!

Homemade Corn Bread
Feeling like enjoying an all natural brunch? I recommend their impressive Savory Garden Omelette filled with mixed vegetables and savory sauce then topped with even more savory sauce and cheese, served with potatoes and fresh fruit! This has got to be the best omelette I’ve ever had! They used their special house savory sauce which was so delicious and decadent that the people at the table beside us, who were locals in the area, shared that it’s so good that they tried making it at home! Surprisingly, the recipe is in their cookbook which they sell at the restaurant. A must try indeed!
Savory Garden Omelette
For lunch, I enjoyed the Chipotle Veggie Burger with Almond Rice. Another wonderful dish that is completely unforgettable! I love burgers and knowing that having this as the healthier alternative is an excellent choice for me. It’s so good that I guarantee you that you won’t even feel like you’re eating something that is not meat. Trust me, I love good eats, this is definitely a winner.
Chipotle Veggie Burger & Almond Rice
The Mushroom Walnut Loaf is one of the two items that they have on their menu that isn’t vegan so I had to try it! It’s basically a Vegetarian meatloaf with mushrooms, walnuts, brown rice & cheese (with eggs) covered with mushroom and natural soy based gravy sauce served with their veggie of the day. Meat lovers, you are certainly in for a treat with this one! I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

I was enamored with the restaurant’s food so much that I immediately wanted to take a look at their house recipe cookbook which I mentioned above. I looked up the savory sauce recipe and found that it had many ingredients. I was perplexed but not surprised as the sauce was something I’ve never had before. Curious? Well, you can try making it on your own since the restaurant has it for sale. I think it’s worth it since the intended ingredients are natural and organic!
The Spot Recipe Book
The Spot has truly found a spot in my heart as they cook delicious, savory, and healthy food. It even has an interesting history. Its previous owner was quite the surfer as he would put his flag up when he’s gone surfing and would put it back down when he is back in the restaurant. The Spot’s new owner, Tonya Beaudet, truly saw a vision when she bought this place in 1991 and ultimately made it a household name for both locals and tourists alike.

I am a fan! I love Hermosa Beach and since The Spot is close to the beach, it makes me want to visit the area even more. I always like it when you can enjoy two different things together. Special thanks to Jaz for the amazing service and food!

After the meal, I walked around the beach in order to digest properly. There’s no way I want to sit down and drive home with a full stomach.

Although it was cloudy that day, the beauty of the area still made me smile! I enjoyed a vegan meal, it was a complete surprise! I love it when people put their heart into their passions while sharing the goodness of it all.
