My two-night stay at the Emerald Iguana Inn certainly left me into a blissful, relaxed state of being. The first thing I noticed was the gorgeous landscape that framed the unique architecture of the inn. I found the grounds beautiful since it emphasized on serenity and relaxation. It is hidden away on a tree-lined street but close enough to walk to downtown Ojai, where most of the restaurants, like Azu, are located.

In this tranquil spot under the oaks and sycamores, I felt that the Emerald Iguana Inn was truly an assortment of art, beauty and serenity… a destination of a perfect Southern California hideaway.

Most inns and hotels maximize profits by building many rooms with minimal regard to comfort and style. The Emerald Iguana Inn is definitely the opposite. Once I entered the grounds and unto its lush gardens, I felt absorbed into its calm and undisturbed environment. The scenery I saw simply took my breath away.

How is the Emerald Iguana even an Inn!? Clearly someone had a vision when creating this property. So to no surprise, these luxury cottages have been completely renovated by owner and architect Marc Whitman, all adorned with antiques and wooden handcrafted furniture… warm, inviting, soothing and comfortable is the set up inside the cottages. It is hard to call this place an inn when it really felt like I was staying at a private paradise resort. Our cottage was situated close to their crystalline pool so it was nice to be able to look outside my second story window and see a wonderful view of the property.

Continental Breakfast Spread
I had a wonderful experience with their breakfast buffet. When I first read that they served continental breakfast, I immediately thought of the traditional (and boring) pastries and orange juice. The breakfast they served was refreshingly beyond that. Their “continental” breakfast consisted of a fruit platter, oatmeal, freshly baked Quiche, scones, muffins, bagels and toast which can be complemented with orange juice, milk, soy milk, coffee and hot chocolate all served in the pool area.

I can’t forget about the beautiful outdoor sculptures that were embellished all throughout this oasis! The flowers in the property also added to the story book touch.

There was a nice private patio outside of my cottage. I enjoyed sitting outside stargazing unto the night. It’s so romantic out here!!

The Emerald Iguana Inn, in all its grandeur, has big plans for the future in its intention to make the hotel even more appealing with additional features such as renovations in their office, the breakfast area and, their already upscale cottages.

All in all, my experience at the Emerald Iguana Inn was above and beyond my expectations. I felt I was able to take in all the beauty and charm of Ojai all in one location. The combination of cute cottages, clean grounds, and friendly staff definitely made my stay memorable. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay!
