The holiday season is upon us! This weekend, let me take you to a tour around a restaurant perfectly suited to bring family and friends to celebrate and spread around the holiday cheer.
As promised, upon marveling at the posh urban lodge that is Palihouse which I recommend to anyone visiting Los Angeles, I take you to its equally acclaimed restaurant… the Palihouse Courtyard Brasserie. A wonderful place in the heart of Hollywood.

For the occasion, I chose a romantic, free-flowing caftan lace dress by designer Katie May, who is based in Los Angeles. It added a romantic touch in the already fascinating and whimsical impression of the Palihouse. Upon entering the main lobby door, you will be greeted by a fanciful view of its Brasserie. Walk over its picturesque tiles and wait to be seated. The service was quick and efficient; it appears to me that they are truly ready to serve their guests straightaway.
I wanted to share with you an aerial view of the Brasserie while I was walking around the hotel grounds. This photo was taken coming out of one of their amorous hotel rooms. Lovely, isn’t it? I surely couldn’t wait to try out their fine delicacies!
Their intimate setting is truly remarkably poetic and picturesque. As I was waiting for our friendly waiter to serve my meal, I took this shot to remind me of the sensational atmosphere. I was excited to experience it all. It was wonderful to feel enthralled by its nostalgic surroundings. Imagine yourself on a romantic date here, or a gathering of friends and family for a birthday or holiday celebration. It is unique and will definitely captivate you and your guests’ heart. This place is divine!
I believe a true dinner experience involve artistic and delicious entrée with the setting to match. The Palihouse Courtyard Brasserie definitely delivered that experience, from their rooms to their customers’ palates. Here’s one of the appetizers I sampled. My Ahi & Hamachi in cilantro, avocado, orange and jalapeno was stylishly presented in a simple but elegant plate. It was a zesty choice! It provided a savory tang and tasted distinctive and delightful.
I also sampled a wonderful spread of seared scallops in spaghetti squash and citrus. It was exquisite on the palate. It tasted fresh and crisp! Sea scallops are definitely one of my favorites. The Palihouse Courtyard Brasserie serves it as delicately soft meat covered with spunk. It was both enjoyable and gratifying. You must order it when you come.
Now, here’s a unique appetizer that they feature in their seasonal fall menu. A succulent confit duck leg that will surely excite your taste buds. Sliced and served on a bed of green salad, this asian-inspired marinated duck leg is the easiest way to experience the juicy taste of duck. I thought it was mouth-watering and savory… fit for a king!
Ahh, as if these were not enough, they also brought out another popular European and Asian cuisine… the pork belly! Derived from the belly of the pig, it is a boneless cut of fatty meat that you must indulge once in a while. It tasted luscious and heavenly in the mouth. They baked it so it was not oily, nor crispy, while still retaining the sumptuous and delectable taste.
Now for the entrée! I tried their Lamb Shank served with buttered lentils, pearled onions and buttered carrots. I was immersed in its meaty goodness — a seriously satisfying main course! It came out looking like a giant bone of meat. Impressively large! This is the leanest cut of lamb but full of flavor. I was immediately hooked.
Of course, a Brasserie isn’t complete without the popular Steak Frites (means steak fries). It is a very common dish served in Brasseries throughout French-speaking Europe. It was only appropriate to order it here too in the European-inspired urban lodge. It came with the most well-seasoned Truffle Fries (French fries tossed in olive oil, Parmesan cheese, pepper and sometimes other ingredients). It’s definitely the hit thing right now and a delicious addition to our meal!
Dessert time! Their Spiced Pear Bread Pudding had the perfect balance of sweet and spice. Garnished with caramel sauce and butter rum ice cream, every bite was perfection. I was even more satisfied to have their unique take on bread pudding. The Mexican Chocolate Semifreddo was so decadent I almost dreamt of it later in the evening! Semifreddo means “half cold” and refers to any chilled or partially frozen desserts. Served with their house latte, I ended this pleasurable night with a pleased smile.
Set in their center courtyard under the starry night, there is something surely mysterious yet glamorous about their ambiance. Enamored by this idyllic location, I am impressed beyond words with the friendliness of the people, as well as the exceptional service I received.
The wall art was created on an art event by Filter Foundry which happens occasionally when the hotel would host an art party. It was perfect for their hip vibe but it’s not a permanent feature. They will eventually paint over it and host another art party to create a whole new wall art. I find that to be pretty cool.
They say food brings people together and this holiday season I encourage you all to spend quality time with family, friends and loved ones over some delicious cuisine. Certainly, the Palihouse Courtyard Brasserie will establish the perfect backdrop and gratify you with a wonderful dinner experience with their outstanding menu and ambiance. I say gather everyone tastefully… in style!
